After not being spotted at Tuesday’s practice in Irvine, New Orleans Saints HC Kellen Moore revealed that DB Alontae Taylor will miss some time after suffering a groin injury during Friday’s practice ahead of the preseason opener against the Los Angeles Chargers. The initial belief is that the fourth-year corner is week-to-week but has avoided anything major.
Taylor has had an outstanding training camp and has been very vocal, taking his leadership to the next level. I’ve said many times I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s named a captain for the 2025 season and develops into one of the best slot corners in the league.
Moore mentioned that the Saints’ 2022 second-round NFL Draft pick will “provide a lot of flexibility” for the New Orleans defense this upcoming season, which will allow them to play more matchup football. He also added that the 26-year-old is really good against the run and is an excellent blitzer.
Kellen Moore on Alontae Taylor:
“I love watching Alontae. He’s everything you want. He’s got juice every day… I just feel like he’s going to become a really prominent leader for our team.”
