New Orleans Saints center Will Clapp was injured and carted off just minutes into Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Chargers. While head coach Kellen Moore did not give any details on the injury after the game, we know now that Clapp has a foot injury that is believed to be season-ending and will require surgery, per a report from Jordan Schultz.
The New Orleans native and former LSU Tiger was selected by the Saints in the 7th round (245th overall) of the 2018 NFL Draft. He spent 4 seasons with Saints before signing with the Los Angeles Chargers in 2022. After spending last season with Buffalo Bills, Clapp re-signed with the Saints in March.
Clapp started on Sunday against the Chargers in place of Erik McCoy. The injury happened on the Saints’ first offensive series of the game. After Clapp was carted off, undrafted rookie Torricelli Simpkins replaced him at center.
