New Orleans adds another weapon to their receiving corp.

Last month, the New Orleans Saints were unable to select a wide receiver in the 2025 NFL Draft. This was not due to a lack of trying from the team, who view the receiver as a position of need. It was expected that the Saints would look at some available veteran pass catchers that they could add to this roster. There happened to be one that New Orleans ended up inviting to their rookie minicamp, Donovan Peoples-Jones. This was more of a tryout for the team, and in the end, the veteran WR must have made a positive impression, because the Saints have signed Donovan Peoples-Jones, per Jeremy Fowler.

Peoples-Jones is not going to be a star signing for the Saints, but as we saw last season during training camp, having as many WRs on the roster is going to be extremely important. Injuries have ravaged the WR room in recent years, and although the hope is this year will be different due to staff changes and new practice workouts, but preparing for the worst-case scenario is smart by the team. However, I do want to make it known that Peoples-Jones should not just be defined as a “camp body”. Just three seasons ago, Peoples-Jones had 839 receiving yards and 3 touchdowns. Since then, he has had much lower production, but at just 26 years old, there is still potential there. Also, at 6-foot-2, Peoples-Jones can be a contested catch threat, which this current WR room is missing.
