Russell Wilson may have screwed the New York Giants in the worst way. This time, it has nothing to do with his play on the field.

The New York Giants quarterback revealed that he suffered a torn hamstring prior to a Week 2 clash with the Dallas Cowboys. However, he hid the injury from New York’s coaching staff and played through it.

“You know, I played that [Week 2] game, you know, I tore my hamstring on Friday in practice — the last play of practice,” Wilson told reporters Monday, via Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk.

“And I had a grade two [tear]. I couldn’t tell anybody. I had to go and play on it just because I knew the circumstance, I had to play on it, no matter what. I actually ended up going to the Dallas Mavericks’ facility, training.”

“And, you know, kept it quiet, just trying to get treatment on it and just knowing that I probably couldn’t run from the goal line to the 10-yard line if I wanted to, but I feel like, you know, I got to play this game,” he added.

Wilson was on the field for 95.5 percent of the Giants’ offensive snaps. It was easily his best game all year. He finished 30-of-41 for 450 yards and three touchdowns. Unfortunately, one terrible interception doomed them in the 40-37 overtime loss. Russell Wilson also rushed for 28 yards on three attempts.

Now, Wilson may have gotten himself and the Giants in trouble. Any NFL investigation could lead to disciplinary action against the Giants.

“An investigation by the NFL into who knew what about Wilson’s injury is likely forthcoming, in part because of the increasing concerns about inside information related to gambling scandals in other leagues,” wrote Reuters.

What’s Next For Russell Wilson?

Where will Russell Wilson go after the 2025 season? He is a free agent set to hit the open market after the 2025 NFL season concludes.

His starting days are clearly over, especially when the Giants benched him after three starts. After his benching and later demotion to third-string, Wilson is planning on giving it another go in 2026 with a new team.

The 10-time Pro Bowl quarterback is not considering retirement following his 14th season in the NFL. “I know what I’m capable of,” Wilson said. The 37-year-old vet still has the tools to at least be a backup in the league. He just needs one team to believe in him. Just maybe he can sign a one or two-year deal to ride the bench in Seattle to end his career.
