After one season with the Pittsburgh Steelers, Russell Wilson was back on the open market, looking to join his third team in as many years. It took a while, but the former Super Bowl winner eventually secured a one-year, $10.5 million contract with the New York Giants.

Yet, the Giants weren’t the only team that considered adding the 10-time Pro Bowl quarterback to their roster this offseason.

According to Pete Carroll, the Las Vegas Raiders also considered signing Wilson this offseason. But that was before the front office made the decision to trade a third-round pick to the Seattle Seahawks for Geno Smith, allowing Carroll to reunite with another one of his former Pro Bowl quarterbacks. Yet, Smith is two years younger than Wilson, perhaps giving the Raiders more long-term stability.

Either way, it appears the Raiders preferred pairing their first-year head coach with a quarterback he was already familiar with. Hopefully, that gives the Raiders a better chance of starting their season on a better note after last year’s 0-1 start.

Even though the Raiders found a different solution to solving their quarterback problem, the Giants were happy to see what Wilson was capable of.
