Russell Wilson’s time in Denver ended after just two seasons. The passer arrived in the Mile High City with much fanfare following an All-Pro stint in Seattle. Unfortunately, he largely fell short of expectations.

Wilson started 30 games with the Broncos, going just 11-19. He never made the playoffs with the franchise. Near the end of the 2023 season, his relationship with head coach Sean Payton soured.

Wilson’s often cringey personality has rubbed many the wrong way throughout his career. Former Seahawks teammates have previously commented on their relationships with the passer, with Marshawn Lynch saying the quarterback struggled to connect with the locker room.

Richard Sherman, meanwhile, has taken a number of shots at Wilson on live TV following their time in Seattle. There’s not much love lost.

Those issues somewhat surfaced during the signal caller’s brief tenure with Denver. One particular annoyance went notably viral.

While on an eight-hour flight to London, Russell Wilson is said to have peeved teammates by working out on the plane. The cringeworthy moment gave the NFL world further reason to pile on.

The passer was asked about that moment while on the Pat McAfee Show Wednesday afternoon. He says his plane ride activity was overblown.

Wilson’s personality is something that many have ridiculed over the years, whether that be due to his corny catchphrases, his cringey commercials, or his all-work-no-play attitude. He doesn’t seem to mind.

He says the approach was necessary given his standing as a 5′ 10″ third-round NFL Draft pick. He believes he had to outwork others to get to the top.

“Whenever you’re trying to be great at anything, there’s a process,” Wilson said. “I was the 75th pick overall. I had to do everything I could possibly do to be great.”

He was able to do that with the Seahawks, and though his time in Denver ended with a split, he’s remained positive. His future in the NFL is now a talking point as followers attempt to predict his destination for the 2025 season.

There have been whispers of Pittsburgh moving on after one season in order to turn the offense over to Justin Fields. Wilson did, however, lead the Steelers to a playoff appearance in his lone campaign. Regardless of the outcome, he’s sure to keep the same approach we’ve seen him take throughout his professional career.
