Earlier this week, as the Denver Broncos were preparing to face the New York Giants, head coach Sean Payton went out of his way to reveal that he’d prefer to face Russell Wilson rather than Jaxson Dart. It was an odd admission to the public, but clearly Payton wanted to throw some shade at his former Broncos quarterback.

The Giants went back and forth, and before the Broncos’ record-setting 33-point fourth quarter, it appeared that New York would emerge with a victory. Ultimately, Payton got the last laugh, but the game could have gone either way.
Now that both sides have had a chance to absorb the latest results, Wilson wanted his chance to take a shot at his former head coach. It was an unusually salty exchange from a player who’s always been known for his professionalism.
Classless… but not surprised….
Didn’t realize you’re still bounty hunting 15+ years later through the media. 😎😂 #LetsRide 🤣— Russell Wilson (@DangeRussWilson) October 21, 2025
Wilson is riding pine these days, which is typical for a 36-year-old quarterback, especially after his team spent a first-round pick on a QB. Yet, we particularly enjoyed the way Wilson alluded to Payton’s troubled past of bounty hunting, which led to a one-year suspension from the NFL.
Clearly, both sides haven’t fully moved on from their 15-game partnership in 2023. We only wish Wilson would have gotten a chance to take out his revenge on Payton on the field instead of on social media.
