A third transaction proved to be around the corner for Deneric Prince.

The running back officially reverted to the New England Patriots’ injured reserve on Wednesday after going through waivers unclaimed.

Barring an injury settlement at a later date, the move ends Prince’s availability for the 2025 NFL season in August. The 25-year-old had been waived with the injury designation the afternoon prior and no longer counts against the 91-man roster.

Prince, who signed in Foxborough on Sunday, did not participate on Monday before the team traveled for joint practices with the Minnesota Vikings at the TCO Performance Center. The active backfield depth chart moves through preseason attrition with Rhamondre Stevenson, TreVeyon Henderson, Antonio Gibson, Terrell Jennings, JaMycal Hasty and Shane Watts.

Entering the NFL as an undrafted free agent out of Tulsa in 2023, Prince spent his rookie year on the practice squad of the Kansas City Chiefs. He twice served as a standard elevation, playing 15 snaps on special teams, on the way to earning a Super Bowl LVIII ring.

The 6-foot, 211-pound running back cleared waivers at the 53-man roster deadline last August and joined the practice squad of the Miami Dolphins for the remainder of 2024. A spring stop with the UFL’s Memphis Showboats followed. It saw Prince total 337 rushing yards, 110 receiving yards, 219 return yards and a pair of touchdowns across 10 appearances.

Six players now reside on injured reserve for New England. The group also includes running back Lan Larison, fullback Brock Lampe, offensive tackle Yasir Durant, defensive tackle Jaquelin Roy and cornerback Marcellas Dial Jr.
