Roundtable: Which Broncos player will have a breakout year on offense?
Mile High Report Mile High Report

Last season, we saw rookie quarterback Bo Nix and second-year wide receiver Marvin Mims Jr. have breakout years for the Broncos offense. Both players were critical to their playoff run late in the year and will be looking to continue that into this season. However, there is now a new crop of players who will be looking to be the breakout player for the Broncos this season.

It’s a lengthy list that includes rookies, second-year players, and a couple of veterans. Rookie running back R.J. Harvey and rookie wide receiver Pat Bryant are two names who could see their roles increase throughout the year. Then, you have the second-year wide receiver, Troy Franklin, who has had a strong offseason, training camp, and preseason. He is expected to have a big role in the Broncos’ offense and is a strong candidate to be a breakout player for them. Then you have veterans Evan Engram and J.K. Dobbins, who could be huge additions to this offense. While both players are established players in the league, their addition could strengthen an area of weakness on the offense and serve as a breakout player for the offense.

There are plenty of candidates, and I asked the Mile High Report staff who they believed the breakout candidate would be, and here are their answers!

Scotty Payne

Troy Franklin, baby!

The rise from the offseason that continued into the summer will carry over into the season. I’m expecting 800+ yards, multiple big plays, and 5-6 TDs. The ball will be spread around but Franklin will be Bo’s big play guy.

Tim Lynch

I will also have to go with Troy Franklin. Unless the local media was just hyping him up for no reason, he should be poised for that breakout type of year.

I’m going to have to go with Troy Franklin on this one. While I think it is very possible Evan Engram has a bigger year, that’s kind of to be expected. Franklin honestly had a disappointing season on the field last year. I expect him to be a real X-factor in this offense this year.

Ian St. Clair

I agree wholeheartedly with Troy Franklin, and great shoutout by Sadaraine on Engram. But I’m going to go with two, RJ Harvey and J.K. Dobbins. The running game is going to be so much better this season, and both of these guys will be the reason why. It’ll open up so much for Nix and Payton.

Adam Malnati

Can Evan Engram have a breakout year? Of course. And he’s the guy. He could be the most valuable player in the red zone, and he will be a great addition for Bo and the offense.

Ross Allen

I’ll go with RJ Harvey. This offense is seemingly built for a zone back like he is. He’ll be gashing opposing defenses behind this offensive line (I’m not concerned by their preseason troubles).
