Roundtable Reactions: Ravens collapse vs. Chiefs
Baltimore Beatdown Baltimore Beatdown

The Baltimore Ravens were dominated by the Kansas City Chiefs in a 37-20 loss, bringing their record to 1-3. Here are the instant reactions from Baltimore Beatdown’s staff:

It was clear early in Sunday’s matchup with the Chiefs that it wouldn’t end well for the Ravens. Both sides of the ball looked woefully unprepared for what should be a familiar Kansas City squad by now. All of the team’s best and highest-paid players were injured, underperforming, or both, including Lamar Jackson. The coaching staff had no answer for another Andy Reid-Steve Spagnuolo masterclass.

No team gets in their own way more than John Harbaugh’s Ravens. Far too many of their errors were self-inflicted, providing too many openings that Patrick Mahomes and Co. were not going to squander. And by the time Jackson left the game, it already felt like the rest of the team had given up.

Even more than the injuries, that might be the biggest problem facing the Ravens. Their early mistakes snowball and seem to infect the rest of the team. The offense and the defense play the opposite of complementary football, and individual bad plays turn into bad drives, which turn into bad quarters, etc. — Nikhil Mehta

This team is both bad and injured. The injuries don’t excuse the fact the defense is bad, that was the case before they got decimated. But now the defense is injured past recovery. The offense lost Stanley early and now we have to wait to see if Lamar Jackson will be out long term.

This game isn’t worth talking about. All the units sucked. The only player who played well was Tyler Loop. The end.

Even if Lamar Jackson is healthy, if they have more than two wins at the bye week, considered me shocked and please. If Jackson is out, they won’t add another win. — Zach Canter

This team was struggling before being absolutely decimated by injuries to a long list of notable players. I don’t know where this team goes from here, but it’s hard to imagine any major shakeups given this organization’s history, even if they may be needed at this point. The vibes could not be worse around the Ravens in a season that was considered Super Bowl or bust before Week 1.

The biggest question mark leaving this game is the injury to Lamar Jackson and whether it will keep him sidelined for any amount of time. Without Jackson, this team is truly done. Even with Jackson, the playoffs are suddenly not promised. This is a flawed team that has now accrued too many injuries to overcome. — Dustin Cox
