The Pittsburgh Steelers have not finalized their coaching staff for the 2025 season, but don’t expect major changes to the group, president Art Rooney II said during his annual press conference with beat writers on Monday.
Rooney said that conversations about the structure and makeup of the coaching staff are ongoing, but with most of the team’s coaching staff under contract for 2025, he’s not expecting big changes.
“We talk about the staff all the time, and so that’s a process that’s ongoing,” Rooney said when asked about his post-season conversations with head coach Mike Tomlin.
The majority of the Steelers’ coaches are under contract for 2025. Asked about whether the team would consider moving on from coaches in such a scenario, Rooney didn’t rule it.
“That’s still kind of the process we’re going through,” he said.
But either way, don’t expect big changes to the group. Rooney put the full weight of his faith behind head coach Mike Tomlin, after signing Tomlin to a three-year extension last offseason, and doesn’t seem likely to make a change from that path any time soon.
As for the rest of the staff, there could be some changes, but it doesn’t sound like much, but there could be some not invited to return for 2025.
“I don’t expect wholesale changes, but yeah, I think there are probably going to be a couple of changes,” Rooney said.
