The NFL season brings fresh debates about quarterback rankings, but there are some who believe the conversation should start and end with hardware.
With Super Bowl rings often serving as the ultimate measuring stick for greatness, Ron Jaworski recently made a bold declaration about where Jalen Hurts stands among the league’s elite signal callers.
The former Eagles quarterback didn’t mince words when discussing Hurts during a recent appearance on The Dan Patrick Show.
“Right now? He’s the best quarterback in the National Football League because he has that Vince Lombardi Trophy in his hand. He’s a world champion quarterback. He’s a Super Bowl MVP. I don’t know how we come up with all these quarterback rankings and ratings,” Jaworski said.

Jaworski’s perspective stems from his 17-season career, where statistics and rankings took a backseat to wins and losses.
For him, Hurts represents everything that matters in quarterback evaluation. The Philadelphia Eagles’ signal caller proved that point in the Super Bowl with a dominant performance against Kansas City.
Hurts completed 17 of 22 passes for 221 yards and two touchdowns while posting a passer rating near 120.
He added 72 rushing yards and another score on the ground, leading Philadelphia to a commanding 40-22 victory that denied the Chiefs a three-peat.
Despite capturing the sport’s biggest prize, Hurts continues facing questions about his place among elite quarterbacks.
Jaworski sees that perceived disrespect as motivation rather than a burden. Every player needs fuel beyond winning, and Hurts has found his in proving doubters wrong.
The Eagles enter their title defense with Hurts carrying enormous expectations. His dual-threat ability and championship experience are undeniable assets.
Now comes the challenge of maintaining that level across 17 regular-season games.
Philadelphia’s success will largely depend on whether Hurts can sustain the brilliance he showed on the sport’s biggest stage throughout an entire campaign.
