Shane Tamura wanted to leave chaos behind after he killed four people at a Manhattan office building.

Four people, including an off-duty New York City police officer, were killed.

The 27-year-old man carried a note in his pocket claiming he suffered from CTE, asked that his brain be studied, and made references to the NFL. His intentions were to attack the NFL.

The mentally ill shooter wanted to shoot up the NFL headquarters, “mistakenly went up the wrong elevator banks” and ended up on a higher floor, Mayor Eric Adams confirmed Tuesday.

Surveillance video showed Shane Tamura exiting a double-parked BMW carrying an M4 rifle, then marching across a public plaza into the building.

Then, he started firing, Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch said, killing a police officer working a corporate security detail and then hitting a woman who tried to take cover as he shot indiscriminately in the lobby.

The man took the elevator to the 33rd floor offices of the company that owned the building, Rudin Management, and shot and killed one person on that floor. Shane Tamura then shot himself.

“NFL staff are at the hospital and we are supporting his family. We believe that all of our employees are otherwise safe and accounted for, and the building has nearly been cleared.”

In the wake of Shane Tamura’s actions, Goodell said in the memo that there would be “increased security presence” at the league’s offices “in the days and weeks to come.”

He further added that employees based in New York should work remotely Tuesday or could take the day off.

“Every one of you is a valued member of the NFL family,” Goodell wrote. “We will get through this together.”
