The brother of San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator and former New York Jets head coach Robert Saleh has publicly put the Jets on blast. Based on his tweet, David Saleh, Robert’s brother, is clearly still harboring a sour taste in his mouth from the way the Jets treated their head coach last season.
While the New York Jets went into the 2024 season with playoff — and potentially even Super Bowl expectations — it would up being just another disastrous campaign for Gang Green, as they ultimately cleared house at the end of the season, firing both the head coach and general manager, in addition to cutting quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
After the Jets’ listless loss to the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday, Robert Saleh’s brother David posted a rare tweet to call out the Jets and owner Woody Johnson, highlighting their record since firing Robert Saleh, who promptly returned to the 49ers, where he had been the defensive coordinator from 2017 to 2020.
“Last year the #Jets were 2-3 playing for first place in their division when @woodyjohnson4 declared that ‘the best roster in franchise history needed a spark.’ Since then the #Jets defense has gone from first to worst donning a record of 3-14. #allgasnobrake #AGNB #VictoryMonday #thespark,” Saleh’s brother David tweeted on Monday, October 6, after the Jets fell to 0-5, making them the only winless team in the NFL.

Saleh is referring to the fact that Johnson decided to fire his brother, head coach Robert Saleh, after just five games last season, with the team failing to leave up to their early-season expectations of competing for a playoff spot.
After Salah was fire, Jeff Ulbrich was installed as the interim head coach. The Jets went 3-9 the rest of the season to ultimately finish with a 5-12 record, which was obviously not good enough to qualify for the playoffs.
Despite the fact that they’ve cleared house, things have arguably gotten worse for the Jets as Glenn is the first coach in franchise history to begin 0-5, while they’re also the first team in history to begin the season 0-5 and not have a single defensive turnover.
