Robert Kraft does not plan on selling.

The Boston Celtics and Los Angeles Lakers are in a different league entirely, but after they collectively sold for an approximate $16 billion during the first half of 2025, people started to wonder whether or not other iconic franchises could be thrown on the market.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter floated the idea by the longtime owner of the New England Patriots in an exclusive interview at Fanatics Fest in New York City, and his response helped put any grand ideas to rest.

“It’s nice, but to me, it’s like your house going up in value,” Kraft said, as transcribed by ESPN’s Mike Reiss. “In my lifetime, and I believe my children’s lifetime, we’re keeping control [of the Patriots].”

It’s been long speculated that Kraft will eventually cede control to his son, Jonathan Kraft, whenever his time as chairman ends. Kraft seemed to confirm as much over the weekend, which will certainly draw a strong reaction from fans.
