Former NFL quarterback Robert Griffin thinks another team not named the Pittsburgh Steelers, should go after free agent Aaron Rodgers.
The New York Jets released Aaron Rodgers after a disappointing two-year partnership. The Steelers have been in contact with Rodgers, but the four-time league MVP has yet to decide if he wants to retire or continue playing.
On Saturday morning, New Orleans Saints quarterback Derek Carr announced that he was retiring due to a serious shoulder injury. The 34-year-old had two years remaining on the $150 million deal he signed in 2023 free agency.
Taking to X/Twitter, Robert Griffin III suggested that the Saints call up Aaron Rodgers to potentially replace Derek Carr at quarterback:
With Derek Carr retiring from the NFL, the New Orleans Saints need to call Aaron Rodgers.

The Saints are coming off a fourth straight losing season and have little roster talent compared to the Steelers. So if Rodgers decides to keep playing, and if New Orleans wants him, it’s hard to imagine the 41-year-old picking them over the Steelers.
Then again, this is only a suggestion on RG3’s end. The Saints already have sophomore Spencer Rattler behind center, plus they used a second-round pick on Louisville quarterback Tyler Shough.
Signing Rodgers would only delay New Orleans’ inevitable rebuild. They’re better off seeing if Rattler or Shough can be the answer, and if not, then taking a quarterback in the deep 2026 draft class.
The Steelers made the playoffs in 2023 and 2024 despite mediocre quarterback play, so they would easily emerge as Super Bowl contenders if Rodgers decided to come aboard. He’d join an offense led by D.K. Metcalf, complemented by a top-10 defense and future Hall of Fame head coach in Mike Tomlin.
