Former NFL quarterback and 2012 Offensive Rookie of the Year Award winner Robert Griffin III teased the idea of coming out of retirement with a compelling video post on his TikTok account.

Robert Griffin III’s once-promising NFL career was quickly derailed by injuries and mismanagement by the Washington Commanders. He last played for the Baltimore Ravens in the 2020 season, starting one game in place of Lamar Jackson, who was sidelined with COVID-19.

Griffin was hired by ESPN ahead of the 2021 season and spent three seasons with the Worldwide Leader in Sports before getting fired. ESPN had hired former Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce to replace him on their “Monday Night Countdown” program.

On his TikTok account, Robert Griffin III shared a video of himself performing football drills with a caption reading, “I got one more in me 👀 Should I come out of retirement chat?”

Griffin has kept busy in his post-ESPN endeavors with his YouTube channel, “Outta Pocket with RGIII”. The 2011 Heisman Trophy winner also has a strong following on X/Twitter, where he posts plenty of football-related hot takes.

But it’s been five years since he last played an NFL snap, and Griffin just turned 35 in February. The odds of him landing another NFL contract if he attempts to come out of retirement are slim, but he doesn’t know unless he tries.

Robert Griffin III Is One Of The NFL’s Biggest “What If” Stories

RG3 won 2012 OROY honors and led Washington to a surprise NFC East division title after throwing for 3,200 yards, 20 touchdowns and just five interceptions to go along with 815 yards and seven rushing scores.

But Washington’s coaching and medical staff showed little regard for Griffin’s injured knee during his rookie year. After missing three games in his sophomore year, Griffin never played double-digit games in a season again.
