Thank goodness for small favors
The most important position on an NFL team is quarterback. That is why the New York Jets were so willing to trade what they did for quarterback Aaron Rodgers, and why they have largely built the offense around whatever Rodgers wants.
At this point, the 2024 season is essentially over. Sure, miracles can happen, but this team certainly does not feel like one that the good vibes are coming for. With that in mind, 2025 takes on increased focus.
So, what’s the deal? Will Rodgers be back?
Recently, he suggested that he would be.
However, Dianna Russini of The Athletic has somewhat pushed back on that, seemingly suggesting that the Jets may not want that outcome.
It appears headed that way again, and plenty is hanging in the balance for the organization — the Jets will need to decide on their quarterback, head coach and possibly general manager this offseason. I’m told no decisions have been made on any of the above, but let’s be clear: There is no guarantee Aaron Rodgers will be back in a Jets uniform in 2025.
If the Jets were to cut Rodgers, then there would be significant cap ramifications, so the situations bears monitoring.
