Terry McLaurin is not at training camp

Terry McLaurin is looking for a new contract from the Washington Commanders, and he aired his frustrations last week. Veterans reported to camp today and Adam Peters said he expected every player to report. That holdout is continuing into training camp per a report from Ian Rapoport. McLaurin was not present for the conditioning test that players reporting today are required to take.

Terry McLaurin is entering the final year of his first NFL contract extension. He currently has the second-highest cap hit for this season($25.5 million), but wants an extension that’s in line with that latest wave of wide receiver signings. McLaurin is likely seeking $30+ million to stay in line with the market, but he turns 30 this year, and a compromise hasn’t been reached. McLaurin said this was a possibility when he spoke to the media last week, and there hasn’t been any progression in the negotiations.

Adam Peters and Dan Quinn spoke to the media this morning before Washington’s veteran players reported to training camp. Peters said he expected McLaurin, along with all the other players, to report to camp. He said they were going to do everything they could to get a deal done, but there are still issues to be resolved before McLaurin rejoins the team.
