Behind the Steel Curtain
The Steelers made an addition to their 53-man roster today, per report.
According to KPRC2’s Aaron Wilson, Pittsburgh is signing defensive tackle Brodic Martin off of the Kansas City Chiefs practice squad Wednesday.
Martin was a third-round pick in 2023 by the Detroit Lions. Over his first two seasons, he played in five games, starting one. He has four career tackles.
Martin was cut by the Lions ahead of the 2025 season, where he was then signed to the Chiefs’ practice squad.
The 6’5, 326-pound defensive tackle was seen as a run-stuffer coming out of Western Kentucky.
“With great size and impressive strength, Brodric Martin can be a space-eating defensive tackle in the NFL,” Bleacher Report’s Matt Holder wrote in a 2023 draft profile. “His best fit is as a 0- to 1-technique nose in a system that asks him to two-gap. He’s nearly impossible to move one-on-one and can hold his own against double teams.”
The Steelers haven’t announced the signing of Martin yet. Because he was poached off a practice squad, he’ll have to be added to the team’s 53-man roster.
