The Pittsburgh Steelers are no longer interested in trading for Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill because of the ongoing NFL investigation into allegations of domestic abuse, according to a report by Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk.
Florio first reported that the Steelers had interest in Hill earlier this month, but that was right before Keeta Vaccaro, the estranged wife of the Dolphins star, accused him of domestic abuse in a civil lawsuit.
The NFL is independently investigating those allegations, with TMZ reporting on Thursday that Vaccaro’s lawyer has a meeting scheduled with NFL senior vice president and special counsel Lisa Friel.
That has scared the Steelers away from a Hill trade, according to Florio.
“My understanding is the Steelers were [interested in trading for Hill], but they’re not anymore because Mike Tomlin is concerned about what happens with this personal conduct policy investigation,” Florio said on PFT Live on Thursday.
With the NFL investigating, it’s possible that Hill could be placed on the commissioner’s exempt list if the league finds credible evidence that a violation of the domestic violence policy occurred. Violations involving assault or battery, as alleged by Vaccaro, are punished by a mandatory minimum six-game suspension.
The Steelers have been searching for a second outside receiver since trading George Pickens to the Dallas Cowboys in May. Though Hill is only 5-foot-10, he has established himself as one the most dangerous receivers in the NFL, earning eight Pro Bowl nods and five All-Pro selections.
The 31-year-old had a down year for his standards in 2024, catching 81 passes for 959 yards and six touchdowns. So far this year, he has 10 catches for 149 yards.
