NFL insider Jeremy Fowler of ESPN reported on Saturday that the Pittsburgh Steelers are doing everything they can to bolster the wide receiver position.
“Pittsburgh. They are scouring the earth for wide receiver help,” Fowler said. “They are looking around. Las Vegas’ Jaokbi Meyers is an option. Teams are calling about Miami’s Jaylen Waddle, but the Dolphins haven’t showed they want to do anything yet, but there could be a receiver moved at the deadline. Pittsburgh could be involved in those conversations.”
That lines up with Dianna Russini of The Athletic’s report that the Steelers and Buffalo Bills are two teams to watch at the trade deadline at the receiver position.

The Steelers have been keeping their eyes out for a No. 2 wide receiver since trading George Pickens to the Dallas Cowboys in the offseason.
Calvin Austin III has shown promise as a No. 2 wide receiver, but he’s more of a No. 3. The Steelers have had very limited production at the WR position outside of Austin and No. 1 WR DK Metcalf this season. They’ve relied mostly on Metcalf and their slew of tight ends.
Meyers recently shared that he still hopes to be dealt with the NFL trade deadline quickly approaching. Meyers requested a trade in August.
“Oh, for sure,” Meyers said via Ryan McFadden of ESPN. “But I’m a professional at the end of the day. I’m just trying to play good football.”
Meyers, 28, did not play in the Raiders’ blowout loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 7 after being listed as questionable with knee and toe injuries. However, head coach Pete Carroll said Meyers is expected to return to health before the trade deadline.
The Steelers showed interest in Meyers after he requested a trade this offseason, but the Raiders refused to trade him, as the team revamped its offense under Carroll by bringing in quarterback Geno Smith and drafting running back Ashton Jeanty.
The Raiders are off to a 2-5 start, and it appears to be a lost season. Moving Meyers seems very realistic.
