The Pittsburgh Steelers’ 2025 regular season game in Ireland is expected to be announced sometime this week.

Many people around the league believe the Pittsburgh Steelers will play a regular season game in Ireland during the 2025 season. That gained further steam on Tuesday.

According to Steelers Ireland podcast host Jimmy English, an announcement regarding the game is expected sometime in the coming days.

“Steelers in Croke Park is being announced this week, according to a source,” English writes. “It’s happening!”

It’s not a complete surprise as Steelers president Art Rooney II hinted an announcement could soon be coming during his end-of-season news conference.

“You know, I think we’re still optimistic that it’s going to happen,” Rooney said. “Hopefully going to have an announcement soon, but it’s not official until it’s official. We’re just going to wait until all those pieces fall into place, but we’d love to be the first team to host a game in Ireland — a regular season game.”

However, the Steelers seem to be just a few days away from officially being set up to play in the NFL’s first ever game in Ireland.

Pittsburgh last played at Croke Park in Dublin, Ireland when it acted as the venue of a preseason game between the Steelers and Chicago Bears back in 1997. The Steelers defeated the Bears 30-17.

The Steelers are one of three NFL teams with Ireland as their designated global market, along with the Jacksonville Jaguars and New York Jets. But English doesn’t think it will be the Jaguars or Jets that Pittsburgh will face overseas.

“Packers I bet,” English wrote.

The Steelers have expressed that playing a game in Ireland is one of their long-term goals. Late owner Dan Rooney served as Ireland’s ambassador from 2009-12.

That goal of playing a regular-season game in Ireland now seems to be closer than ever to happening.
