Report: Seahawks running back Kenny McIntosh feared to have ACL tear

It’s the second major knee injury for McIntosh in three seasons.

The Seattle Seahawks may have just lost one of their running backs for the season.

As was reported earlier on Saturday, third-year player Kenny McIntosh was helped off the practice field at team headquarters in Renton following a special teams play. McIntosh did not put any weight on his left leg as he left the field, which in itself is usually an ominous sign of something bad.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, it appears as if McIntosh’s season is already over. Unless additional testing provides some level of good news, the initial belief is that the former Georgia Bulldog tore his ACL.

It’s a devastating setback for McIntosh, who only expected to compete for the third-string running back role alongside seventh-round rookie Damien Martinez, as well as vie for a role as a kick returner.

During his rookie season, McIntosh sprained his knee in the team’s intra-squad scrimmage at Lumen Field. He was placed on injured reserve and only appeared in three games, exclusively on special teams. McIntosh had just 75 snaps in his second season, recording 31 carries for 172 yards in addition to six kick returns for 152 yards on special teams.

We wish McIntosh all the best and that somehow the testing shows it’s not as serious as it’s believed. It’s nevertheless devastating to potentially have your season end before the opening week of preseason.
