For the second time in his career, Dickson is the highest paid punter in the NFL.
The Seattle Seahawks entered the offseason with several big questions to address. Those included significant decisions to make on the offensive side of the ball, specifically with regards to how to proceed with aging vets like Geno Smith and Tyler Lockett, while also working through the discontent of DK Metcalf.
With those questions addressed early in the offseason, the team turned to adding youth to both sides of the ball through the draft, including setting up the offensive line for continuity in the coming seasons.
However, little attention was paid to special teams, where Jason Myers is under contract through 2026, while long snapper Chris Stoll and punter Michael Dickson are both under contract through the 2025 season. However, according to a report from NFL insider Mike Garafolo, Dickson is no longer under contract through just 2025.
Dickson had been set to carry a $4.25M cap hit for the 2025 season, and the extension likely does not significantly impact that number, but full details of the extension will be reported when made available.
Dickson had been the highest paid punter in the NFL since signing his previous contract extension in June of 2021. However, on Monday the Jacksonville Jaguars signed Logan Cooke to a four-year contract that gave Cooke the title of highest paid punter in the NFL for all of about 17 hours, with Dickson’s contract putting him back in the top spot Tuesday morning.
