Scott Hanson is reportedly discussing a deal that could see him leave ‘NFL RedZone’ following a 15-year stint.

According to Front Office Sports, Hanson’s deal with NFL Media expired at the end of the season, and he’s now in talks with NBC over a gig that would see him cover both the NFL and the Olympics for the network.

Hanson, now a free agent, is also negotiating with NFL media, but talks have slowed due to the conferring over ESPN’s potential takeover of NFL Media and ‘RedZone.’ Should he leave, Andrew Siciliano could take over as the show’s host following his NFL coverage for DirecTV. However, if they complete the takeover, ESPN could also pull someone from its all-star roster to replace Hanson.

NBC Is Desperate To Bring Scott Hanson Back Following His Coverage Of The Olympics

Hanson, 53, made a massive impression on NBC after covering the Summer Olympic Games for NBCUniversal and Peacock last year.

The network is understood to be keen on having him return as the host of ‘Gold Zone’ for the 2026 Winter Olympics.

“Scott brought his inimitable enthusiasm and energy to Gold Zone. NFL fans loved watching him transfer his ‘all-in’ mentality from football Sundays to the Paris Olympics,” NBC’s president of Olympics production told FOS last September.

NBC announced earlier this week that ‘Gold Zone’ and multiview will return next year with an evening show called ‘Primetime in Milan’ set to feature “top stars, events and stories.”

Hanson is, of course, a fan favorite and has done a remarkable job as the host of ‘RedZone’ over the last decade and a half. NFL Sundays will definitely not be the same with him gone.
