A top NFL analyst predicts Kansas City Chiefs superstar Patrick Mahomes will be a borderline top-five quarterback in 2025.

With Tom Brady long retired, the 29-year-old Patrick Mahomes is the consensus top player in the NFL. Since becoming a starter in 2018, he has led the Chiefs to five AFC Championships and three Super Bowl titles, with a pair of MVP Awards for good measure.

Warren Sharp of Sharp Football Analysis put 38 NFL quarterbacks in tiers ahead of the 2025 season, with “S+” being the highest and “F” marking the lowest. Sharp’s tier placements are based on the quarterbacks’ “expected performances” for the upcoming season.

Interestingly, four quarterbacks were listed in the S+ category, of which Mahomes was absent. The four QBs in the top tier were Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson, Jayden Daniels and Jalen Hurts.

Patrick Mahomes was in the “A+” category with Joe Burrow:

Mahomes didn’t have his greatest statistical season in 2024, throwing for 3,928 yards and 26 touchdowns against 11 interceptions in 16 games. But the Chiefs went 15-1 with Mahomes in the regular season, and he played mistake-free football in the Divisional Round and AFC Championship Game to get KC to the Super Bowl.

He caught a ton of flak for the Chiefs’ humiliating 40-22 loss in Super Bowl 59, yes. But few quarterbacks would have done anything behind the performance of KC’s offensive line in that game, and it’s not like their defense did much against Jalen Hurts and company.

Bet Against Patrick Mahomes At Your Own Risk

The last time Mahomes lost a Super Bowl, his team went to three straight AFC Championship Games and won back-to-back Lombardi Trophies. So bet against him at your own risk.

The Chiefs, by the way, will have Marquise ‘Hollywood’ Brown and Rashee Rice back from injury. With second-year wideout Xavier Worthy also primed for a big season, the Chiefs should be even more dangerous than last year’s group that fell just short of a three-peat.
