Report of new Browns alternate helmet leads to some interesting fan-created options

The Browns helmet had been off limits to change until recent years

The one constant for the Cleveland Browns and the one consistent thing Cleveland Browns fans have wanted to be protected is their iconic helmet. While the “orange was more orange” for a while, fans pushed back strongly anytime alternate helmets were teased. Throwback helmets, like the one used as the lead art from a 2006 Battle of Ohio matchup, as one-offs were one thing but any significant changes were unwelcomed.

In the last few seasons, the Browns have been able to toe the line between new and respecting tradition. Fans really don’t want to see the “phantom CB helmet” but it seems the organization could be back with something new in 2025:

A source with the team noted that it would not be numbers on the side of the helmet. Much like we saw last year with the glossy finish, a new alternate doesn’t have to have an extreme change to it to be considered a change.

What if it does?

What if, for the first time that I’m aware of, the Cleveland Browns helmet had a base of brown instead of the classic orange or the throwback white? Some fan-created options give us a chance to see what that might look like:

The thought would be the team could complete their all-brown (which some people have creative names for) “Color Rush” option:

While fans mostly care about the product on the field, at times the uniform can also make fans feel represented poorly or be added frustration on top of bad play on the field. It will be interesting if the team continues to try to make changes, especially after the putrid play in the 2024 season.

If the Browns are going to have a new alternative helmet in 2025, do you like the brown one? Any other fan-created ones that you’ve either liked or at least liked better than the brown option? Share those and your thoughts in the comment section below
