Report: No Signs Mike Tomlin is Thinking About Walking Away

It doesn’t seem like Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin is going anywhere anytime soon.

Head coach Mike Tomlin’s future with the Pittsburgh Steelers has been heavily debated since the team dropped a crucial game against the Cleveland Browns in Week 17. However, that narrative has quickly changed after the Steelers defeated the Baltimore Ravens in the regular season finale to be crowned the AFC North champions.

NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero reiterated just that when speaking about Tomlin’s future with the team.

“My understanding is there are no signs behind the scenes of Mike Tomlin even thinking about potentially walking away here,” Pelissero said. “In this moment right now, no signs that Mike Tomlin certainly has one foot out the door.”

There’s no arguing against the idea that Tomlin is one of the best head coaches in the NFL after he recently notched his 19th consecutive non-losing season to begin a coaching career.

However, Pittsburgh is hungry for some success in the postseason, which it hasn’t had in some time. That is why many fans were hoping the two sides would look for a fresh start following the 2025 season.

NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport doesn’t think Tomlin would simply jump ship for another team, though.

“Mike Tomlin’s not getting fired,” Rapoport said. “I would imagine, he would take a real break. Go do what Sean Payton did. Go work in TV. Try his hand at what we do. Learn how to put makeup on. It’s actually not that hard. It’s more daunting then you think, and he would probably do TV for a little bit. No indication that’s coming right now.”

Only time will tell what Tomlin’s future will hold with the Steelers, but after a valiant effort to get his team into the playoffs without star linebacker T.J. Watt and wide receiver DK Metcalf, he doesn’t seem to be going anywhere else anytime soon.
