Jets star receiver’s future with the team is tenuous
The New York Jets will look quite different in 2025 compared to 2024. In place of former head coach Robert Saleh and his staff will be new head coach Aaron Glenn and his staff, who will likely implement meaningfully different systems and likely bring in some of their own players to replace some of the current roster.
One current Jets player whose status is tenuous is wide receiver Davante Adams. While Adams is remarkably talented, he also comes with an extremely large cap hit of $38.3 million that can be reduced by about 30 million if he is released. Given the Jets current cap situation, that places Adams firmly on the roster bubble.
With that in mind, it’s perhaps notable that the new regime has yet to speak with Adams since taking over according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
At some point, that conversation will occur one way or another, but this is a far cry from the new regime making clear how badly they want Adams back.
