The future of the Kansas City Royals and Kansas City Chiefs has been a hot topic for some time.
Last year, Kansas Gov. Laura Kelly signed legislation that will help both professional sports teams pay for new stadiums if they indeed decide to change locations.
The Chiefs have always intended to remain at Arrowhead Stadium, but all signs continue to point to them playing elsewhere.
A new report states the Chiefs are leaning towards a move to Kansas, which is gaining momentum.
The report goes on to state that, should the Kansas City Chiefs pursue that direction, ground will most likely have been broken in the state of Kansas around November 2025.

Jackson County, the current home of the Chiefs and Royals, has been urged to develop a plan to keep them in Missouri.
The Royals have publicly expressed interest in leaving Kauffman Stadium for a new location, while the Chiefs have a lease at Arrowhead Stadium that runs through the 2030 season.
The attempt to lure the Chiefs to cross the state line from Missouri to Kansas has been in play for a while.
The Chiefs announced plans to renovate GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium, but voters in Jackson County, Missouri, rejected a sales tax measure that would have helped fund major renovations to Arrowhead Stadium and a new downtown ballpark for the Royals.
House Speaker Jonathan Patterson made it clear inside the state Capitol that Jackson County leaders needed to develop a stadium funding plan.
“The time is running out,” Patterson said. “I think it is time for a plan and course of action. And I do want to reiterate, I do think this is going to be something that has to happen in the county first and then the state.”
