Report: Jonathan Mingo could miss 4-6 weeks with PCL injury

After hauling in a spectacular catch Saturday night against the Baltimore Ravens helped hype up Jonathan Mingo’s potential for the 2025 season, it looks like things could be put on hold for a while. Nick Harris of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram is reporting that early indications show that Mingo is dealing with a PCL injury that could sideline him for around four weeks.

As Harris points out in his article, there will still need to be further testing done to confirm the actual timeframe of when he could come back. Calvin Watkins stretches the timeframe to six weeks.

The news is unfortunate for Mingo because he has had a solid offseason flashing at times in training camp and competing with other receivers for a spot on the depth chart behind CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens. He hasn’t been able to flash in the preseason the way some have hoped given the erratic play from quarterback Joe Milton, but now being sidelined for multiple weeks hampers any progress made in training camp.

Mingo came to Dallas last year before the trade deadline and struggled to hit the ground running learning a new playbook, and being cast aside by a coaching staff not wanting to give him playing time on the field.

Mingo’s injury could place him on a designated list to start the season opening the door for another wide receiver to make the 53-man roster. That means this week of practice and Friday’s game will be critical for Jalen Brooks, Ryan Flournoy, and Traeshon Holden.

For those that wanted to see Mingo play with Dak Prescott and finally hit the ground running with a full offseason under his belt, it looks like you will have to wait a while longer.

In good news, it is also being reported that Jaydon Blue looks to be on track to play in the final preseason game.
