Former New England Patriots Pro Bowl linebacker Matthew Judon hinted over the weekend that he may be interested in a possible reunion with the team.
According to multiple reports on Monday morning, however, the 33-year-old free agent is set to visit with an AFC East rival this week.
KPRC 2 Houston’s Aaron Wilson, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and NFL insider Jordan Schultz all said on Monday that Judon was set to meet with the Miami Dolphins.
Per Wilson, Judon is “expected to sign” with the Dolphins.
“Four-time Pro Bowl pass rusher Matthew Judon set to meet today with #Dolphins and is expected to join them, barring anything unforeseen, per league source. Judon, 32, has 72 career sacks, 5.5 last year for #Falcons previously #Patriots #Ravens,” Wilson wrote on X. “Matthew Judon and #Dolphins are a strong fit and now they’ll meet and expected to sign with AFC East franchise, per league source.”
“Sources: The #Dolphins will host 4x Pro Bowl OLB Matthew Judon on a visit tomorrow. Miami has been exploring pass-rush options, and Judon — who had 5.5 sacks last season in Atlanta — brings 72 career sacks to the table,” Schultz added. “Matthew Judon’s visit with the #Dolphins begins today, and the expectation is that both sides are motivated to reach a deal.”
“The #Dolphins are hosting free agent pass-rusher Matthew Judon on a visit today, source said. Some potential edge help,” Rapoport reported.
The Grand Valley State product spent the first five seasons of his career with the Baltimore Ravens, earning his first two Pro Bowl nods in 2019 and 2020. Judon then signed a four-year, $54.5M deal with the Patriots in March 2021 and developed into one of the best pass rushers in the NFL. He made two more Pro Bowl honors in 2021 and 2022 before suffering a season-ending bicep injury after just four games in 2023.
Judon was then traded to the Atlanta Falcons last August and finished the 2024 season with 41 tackles, nine quarterback hits, 5.5 sacks and five passes defended.
