Nyheim Hines is ready to write his comeback story.

In February 2025, the Cleveland Browns terminated the contract of running back Nyheim Hines, who was sidelined for a second consecutive season after suffering an ACL tear during a personal watercraft accident in July 2023.

Cleveland signed Hines to a one-year deal last offseason, but he began the season on the non-football injury list as he continued his rehab.

The Browns designated him to return to practice in mid-October but did not activate him to the 53-man roster.

Because Hines spent the entire season on the NFI list and was in the final year of his contract, the deal tolled to the 2025 season.

Now, he is ready for a return.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Nyheim Hines is looking for a chance to play in his first NFL game since 2022.

Where Could Nyheim Hines End Up?

Nyheim Hines last played football in 2022, when he returned two kicks for touchdowns in the same game for the Bills.

He spent his first six seasons with the Indianapolis Colts and Buffalo Bills before signing with the Browns.

In May, the Texans gave him a workout but did not offer a contract. They would later opt to sign another former Browns RB, Nick Chubb, instead.

A team may be willing to give him a prove-it contract, but he might have to wait until an injury occurs.

In 2022, Hines appeared in seven games for the Colts and nine games for the Bills. He rushed for 33 yards on 24 carries to go along with 30 receptions on 37 targets for 241 yards receiving and two total touchdowns.

Nyheim Hines has accumulated 2,980 scrimmage yards and totaled 18 touchdowns in his career, while also returning two punt returns and two kickoffs for scores.
