A young woman is dead, and former Dallas Cowboys cornerback Kelvin Joseph has just gotten even worse news as he is already facing serious charges tied to a deadly crash.

In the early hours of a Saturday morning, tragedy struck North Central Expressway in Richardson, Texas, when police found 27-year-old Cody Morris of Plano unresponsive. She had been driving a motorcycle and died at the scene. No other vehicles were present when first responders got there, leaving many questions about how the incident unfolded.

Richardson police later announced on social media that Joseph reported his involvement in the crash that occurred.

He was charged with driving while intoxicated and a collision involving death for his role in an early morning crash that killed motorcycle rider Cody Morris, a 27-year-old mother of two.

Former Dallas Cowboys cornerback Kelvin Joseph is now being sued over that accident. The father of one of Morris’ children filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Joseph and two Dallas County clubs.

The lawsuit claims Joseph was served alcoholic beverages at two Dallas bars to the point where “he became visibly intoxicated.”

The plaintiff is seeking over $10 million for pain and mental anguish, expenses, and other damages.

This is not Joseph’s first run-in with law enforcement.

In 2022, he was named a person of interest in a fatal shooting in the Lower Greenville area of Dallas. His attorney later stated that he was a passenger in the shooter’s vehicle and was later cleared of any other involvement.

Kelvin Joseph Flamed Out of The NFL

Joseph is facing another round of legal woes after police say he drove drunk, hitting and killing a 27-year-old mother from Plano.

Joseph was originally selected with the No. 44 overall pick in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft by the Dallas Cowboys.

In his first two years with the Cowboys, he played in 26 games with three starts with 40 total tackles and four passes defended.

He lost his starting spot to Daron Bland in the 2023 preseason and was traded to the Miami Dolphins in exchange for Noah Igbinoghene.

The Dolphins eventually released Joseph in November. Two weeks later, he was signed by the Seahawks, before he was traded to the Chiefs, Colts, and Vikings over the next year.

Eventually, Kelvin Joseph found himself out of the league and was signed by the DC Defenders of the UFL.
