Report: Eagles QB coach interviewing for Saints’ offensive coordinator job
Bleeding Green Nation Bleeding Green Nation

Far from shocking news.

The New Orleans Saints are interviewing Philadelphia Eagles quarterbacks coach Doug Nussmeier for their offensive coordinator vacancy early this week, according to a report from NFL insider Ian Rapoport.

This news hardly comes as a surprise; it’s been widely assumed Nussmeier will be following former Eagles OC Kellen Moore to New Orleans. The two have overlapped at three different NFL stops:

Additionally, Nussmeier’s son — Garrett Nussmeier — is the starting quarterback for LSU. So, that’s even more reason for Doug to want to head down south.

And so the Eagles will likely be looking for a new QB coach. They don’t have an assistant QB coach so it’s not perfectly clear who will replace Nussmeier. Maybe it’s Kevin Patullo if he doesn’t get the Eagles’ OC job? Tight ends coach Jason Michael also has some QB coach experience. Or perhaps it’ll just be an external hire.

With Nussmeier interviewing for the Saints’ OC job and Christian Parker interviewing for their defensive coordinator opening, the Nick Sirianni’s coaching staff could be losing two notable assistants.
