Brian Daboll’s desperation to win games and keep his job with the New York Giants created a situation on Thursday that has led to an inquiry by the NFL and NFLPA.

On this week’s edition of Thursday Night Football, the Giants scored the biggest win in a couple of years when they defeated the defending champion Philadelphia Eagles, 34-17. The defense played a huge role in the win, as they shut Philly out in the second half. However, rookie Jaxson Dart was the star of the show for many Big Blue fans.

The first-round pick hit on 17 of his 15 passes. Tossed quite a few beautiful passes, and posted a pair of touchdowns — one of them running. He showcased his versatility and immense upside in leading New York to its second win of the season.

However, a moment in the third quarter has drawn the concern of both the NFL and the NFL Players Association.

Did Brian Daboll rush Jaxson Dart’s concussion evaluation?

“The NFL started a review of the application of the concussion protocol involving Giants QB Jaxson Dart during last night’s game against the Eagles,” CBS Sports’ Jonathan Jones reports. “That review will be conducted jointly with the NFLPA.”

Early in the third quarter, as he did for much of the night, Dart tried to extend the play as he scrambled inside the pocket. However, this time he did not go far and took a big hit from Patrick Johnson. The rookie remained down after the tackle and, after going to the sidelines, was brought to the blue tent to get evaluated for a concussion.

Daboll could then be seen going to the tent and yelling at the doctors and staff. Dart returned to the game soon after. It looked like he was fine the rest of the game, and that is probably why the medical staff cleared him to return. However, the fact that an investigation has been opened into the matter is worrisome.

There is no doubt that Brian Daboll is feeling a lot of pressure. After going 9-7-1 in his first season and winning a game in the playoffs, Daboll has posted an 11-29 record in the two seasons since. This is a make-or-break year for the 50-year-old. Another losing season, and he is guaranteed to be fired.

Daboll is pretty much putting his job in the hands of Jaxson Dart the rest of the season. He was high on the rookie this summer, and that is why he pulled the trigger and benched veteran Russell Wilson after an 0-3 start. So far, the results have been very positive because...
