The New England Patriots are reportedly on the cusp of welcoming back star cornerback Christian Gonzalez to the lineup.
After nearly suiting up in Week 3 vs. the Pittsburgh Steelers, Gonzalez has been trending in the right direction ahead of the Patriots’ Week 4 matchup against the Carolina Panthers.
Senior NFL insider Dianna Russini reported on Saturday that the 23-year-old was “ready to roll” for Sunday’s game.
“Patriots CB Christian Gonzalez has worked hard on his hamstring recovery and is ready to roll,” Russini posted on Bluesky.
Russini reported further details surrounding Gonzalez’s expected return in an article for The Athletic.
“He and the Patriots were in agreement on not rushing his return, and he should bolster a defense that badly needs him,” she wrote. “Panthers QB Bryce Young has only one career road win, so it’s a good spot for Gonzalez’s return.”
The 2023 first-round pick suffered his hamstring injury during training camp in late July and made his return to practice on Sept. 17.
Gonzalez was a second team All-Pro last season after finishing with 59 tackles, 11 passes defended and two interceptions across 16 games.
