On Saturday morning, the Chicago Bears brought four running backs into Halas Hall for a tryout, and now, per a report from CBS Sports’ Matt Zenitz, they are expected to sign 27-year-old Brittain Brown.
Brown played his college ball at Duke (2016-2019) and UCLA (2020-2022), compiling 2,284 rushing yards (5.8 ypc) with 21 touchdowns and catching 41 passes for 431 yards and two TDs. He was a seventh-round pick of the Las Vegas Raiders in ‘22, and as a rookie, he played in six games, amassing 61 special teams snaps. He was waived/injured the following offseason, and then in 2024, he had a couple of stints on the practice squad of the Seattle Seahawks.
The 6’1”, 205-pound Brown was a physical runner in college, but a lack of wiggle and straight-line speed likely pushed him down draft boards.
Chicago’s current running back room consists of D’Andre Swift, Roschon Johnson, Travis Homer, Ian Wheeler, and rookies Kyle Monangai and Deion Hankins.
Johnson was held out of Thursday’s practice with a foot injury, but the severity was not revealed.
The Bears have yet to announce the transaction, and when they do, it’ll come wth a corresponding roster move, which we’ll share here.
