The New York Giants were hopeful they might have a superstar on their hands when they made Abdul Carter the No. 3 overall pick in April’s NFL Draft. Well, the former Penn State star has done little to diminish those dreams over the first week of training camp.
Entering this year’s NFL Draft, the Giants had a clear need at quarterback. However, with the options after Cam Ward far from sexy, the organization chose to go with a best player available approach with their first pick. That ended up being talented linebacker Abdul Carter.
In the months leading up to the event, outside of Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter, Carter was seen by many as the best all-around player in his class. However, making the transition from the college ranks to the pros is not easy. Well, according to new reports out of Giants training camp, Carter is doing exactly that.

The first comes from SNY NFL insider Connor Hughes, who claims the linebacker is one of the best rookies he has ever seen in person. Which is quite a compliment from a reporter who covered future stars Jamal Adams, Quinnen Williams, Sauce Gardner, and Garrett Wilson during their debut seasons.

Carter is out there dominating. His burst off the line is ridiculous, but he’s not just speed. He has incredible power, too. He’s also not just fast off the edge. He has an entire rotation of moves he can throw at a tackle.”
New York Post NFL reporter Jared Schwartz has also been blown away and added to the point about Carter’s wide array of moves with a quote from one of his teammates on how nasty he is for a first-year player.

“Not a lot of people can move the way he does,” rookie guard Marcus Mbow told Schwartz. “He’s a very fast, very explosive cat. Just the ability to counter. I feel like it’s just effortless, being able to go from one move to the next, just continuously working. I think that’s probably the most impressive thing about it.”
The Giants just had a rookie make a star turn in his first year in 2024 with Malik Nabers. The Pro Bowler knows what it takes to make a successful transition from college to the NFL. And he thinks Abdul Carter is on track to be a serious problem for NFC East opponents this...
