The San Francisco 49ers completed their second block of practices during training camp. First-round pick Mykel Williams did not practice on Tuesday due to a “minor ankle” injury, according to the team.
There is no information on which ankle Williams is dealing with, but it’s a notable injury as Williams played the 2024 season with a lingering ankle injury that was specified as a Grade 2 left ankle sprain that he sustained in the season opener.
The last thing the 49ers want to do is have their top draft pick and defensive lineman who plays multiple positions banged up before the season begins. We can expect the Niners to be overly cautious with Williams and take their time with him. We’ll provide any updates once they are available.
Edge rusher Tarron Jackson was officially placed on the Injured Reserve. That’s why the 49ers signed Jaylon Allen on Tuesday morning.
Wide receiver Ricky Pearsall did not practice Tuesday, but this was a scheduled day off as Pearsall practiced two days in a row for the first time this week. Cornerback Deommodore Lenoir and rookie running back Jordan James were also not spotted during practice. Those reasons are unknown.
The 49ers have Wednesday off.
