Another name for Robert Saleh’s staff
The San Francisco 49ers have their defensive mastermind, Robert Saleh, figured out. Now, they’re bringing in some coaches, one of whom is Boston College secondary coach Ray Brown.
Matt Zenitz of CBS Sports reports that Brown will be hired as cornerbacks coach.
Brown spent 2024 as the secondary coach for Boston College (under Bill O’Brien) and two seasons as the cornerbacks coach at Washington State.
This should help Saleh, as the 49ers relied on Daniel Bullocks and Andrew Hayes-Stoker to handle most of the defensive backs. It sounds like Brown will work specifically with cornerbacks.
As of this writing, no official announcement has been made, and I imagine that more additions or departures to Kyle Shanahan’s staff will still be in the works as time passes.
Brown will work with Deommodore Lenior, whom the 49ers locked up to a five-year extension, and 2024 standout Renardo Green. The secondary looked like it had a bright future in 2024, so maybe Brown can help it continue that development.
