Four AFC teams are reportedly interested in Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback and pending free agent Justin Fields.
The Steelers acquired Fields from the Chicago Bears last year in a blockbuster trade, forming quarterback competition with Russell Wilson. Fields started the first six games while Wilson recovered from a calf injury, going 4-2 with five touchdowns against one interception.
Wilson’s cold play down the stretch, a four-game losing streak followed by a 14-point loss to the Baltimore Ravens in the Wild Card Round, means he’s unlikely to return to Pittsburgh. As for Justin Fields, the Steelers are reportedly among several AFC teams interested in his services.
According to the ML Football X/Twitter account, the Steelers, Ravens, New York Jets and Indianapolis Colts are all “Expected to show interest in” the 2021 first-round pick. The Jets also have a QB vacancy after announcing that they won’t bring back Aaron Rodgers for a third season.
🚨PROJECTION: Free agent quarterback Justin Fields is projected to sign a fully guaranteed 1-year, $9 MILLION CONTRACT contract.
Fields is a former first-round pick who is exceptionally talented.

Justin Fields made 10 game appearances in 2024, completing 65.8 percent of pass attempts for 1,106 yards. He also rushed for 289 yards and five touchdowns, flashing his potential as a dual-threat QB in Arthur Smith’s offense.
Pittsburgh has been searching hard for a long-term answer at QB since Ben Roethlisberger’s retirement in 2022. Mitch Trubisky, 2022 first-rounder Kenny Pickett, Mason Rudolph and Wilson weren’t the answers. Only time will tell if Fields gets an extended look in Pittsburgh.
Fields’ statistics weren’t eye-popping in Pittsburgh, but they still went an impressive 4-1 with him behind center. Fields protected the football and excelled in a game manager role for Pittsburgh, and the Steelers would be wise to give him a full year to try and prove himself.
Otherwise, there will be considerable interest for his services if Fields ends up hitting the open market.
