BALTIMORE —
BALTIMORE — Aaron Rodgers turned back the clock, delivering a vintage performance to lead the Pittsburgh Steelers to an upset victory over the Baltimore Ravens and into sole possession of first place in the AFC North.
Rodgers threw for 284 yards and one touchdown and ran for another as the Steelers emerged with a 27-22 victory at M&T Bank Stadium to move ahead of the Ravens for the top spot.
Rodgers started the scoring with a real throwback — a 1-yard scramble for a touchdown followed by his famous discount double check celebration.
But it was even before that play that Rodgers showed that today was going to be different. He hit DK Metcalf on a 52-yard bomb on the team’s first offensive play — one of three deep passes from Rodgers to Metcalf in the game.
Entering the contest, the Steelers hadn’t completed a pass over 20 air yards since Week 8, but Rodgers — still shaking off the effects of a wrist injury and wearing a cast on his left wrist — turned that narrative around in a big way.
He finished 23 of 34 for 284 yards, and threw a touchdown pass to Jaylen Warren in addition to his rushing score.

Metcalf was by far the biggest recipient of Rodgers’ big passing day. He caught seven of 12 targets for 148 yards — his most productive day in a Steelers uniform and the fourth-best day of his career.
That was enough to keep the Steelers consistently ahead of a hard-charging Baltimore offense that scored on four straight possessions late in the first half and early in the second half.
The Steelers gave up 400 total yards and over 200 on the ground for the second straight week, but made a few big plays in crucial moments. A James Pierre interception in the first half immediately preceded a Kenny Gainwell rushing touchdown.
In the second half, Patrick Queen helped break up a pass intended for Mark Andrews in the end zone on fourth down on the penultimate Baltimore drive. That play wouldn’t have happened if not for a critical call that went against the Ravens, when an Isaiah Likely would-be touchdown was controversially overturned. Likely dropped the ball after taking multiple steps with it in the end zone. The reversal gave the Steelers defense another shot.
The final Ravens possession ended with an Alex Highsmith sack of Jackson, running the clock out on the final comeback bid.
The Steelers improved to 6-5 on the season, and moved into sole passion of first place in the AFC North, while Baltimore fell to 5-6. The Ravens will visit the Cincinnati Bengals next week, while the Steelers will host the Miami Dolphins on Monday Night Football.
