As the season nears it end, let’s take a look at some recent mock drafts and who they project the Jets will pick in the 2026 NFL Draft
7. New York Jets: Ty Simpson, QB, Alabama
23. New York Jets: Brandon Cisse, CB, South Carolina
The Jets in this mock address quarterback, and then try to replace Gardner with South Carolina cornerback Brandon Cisse late in the first round.
7. New York Jets: Ty Simpson, QB, Alabama
Simpson is a big-armed pocket passer who plays with composure and outstanding mental processing both before and after the snap. He plays with an aggressive confidence and excels at navigating muddy pockets, throwing accurately on short and intermediate routes, and ripping tight-window throws with anticipation — though he has been historically inconsistent on deep balls. Simpson is athletic enough to buy time with his legs to extend plays and move the sticks.
23. New York Jets: KC Concepcion WR, Texas A&M
Concepcion is a versatile WR who uses his quickness and burst to consistently get open against man coverage, proving himself a deep threat with the speed to stack defenders. He is a natural hands catcher who runs precise routes to all three levels and adds significant value as a dynamic punt returner with impressive YAC ability.
7. New York Jets: Jordyn Tyson, WR, Arizona State
23. New York Jets: Avieon Terrell, CB, Clemson
Of course both the NFL and college football seasons are ongoing. That means we don’t yet know the exact Draft picks the Jets will end the season with. And there is plenty of time for players to rise and fall on big boards. Any mock draft right now is a barometer of where players stand at the moment.
I will say that I find it odd to see two mocks projecting the Jets to pick a cornerback with Indianapolis’ first round pick. That was one of the picks received in the Sauce Gardner trade. It isn’t that these corner prospects aren’t good. It isn’t that they are incapable of having successful careers. It’s just that the Gardner trade as much as anything was a sign the Jets are reallocating resources as they embark on this new rebuild.
They are investing less in a premium cornerback presumably to build up the offensive infrastructure around a quarterback they pick in the NFL Draft. It’s tough for me to see the logic of throwing that out. They would have traded Sauce Gardner for a Draft pick used to pick a corner who probably won’t be as good. I just don’t see it happening.
