This week, we asked Jacksonville Jaguars fans who they want as their next head coach.
64% of respondents have their eyes set on Ben Johnson, the consensus top candidate in this year’s coaching cycle. Fellow Lions coordinator Aaron Glenn was second with 16% of votes.
Detroit was eliminated from the playoffs on Saturday. With Johnson and Glenn available for further (in-person) coaching interviews sooner than expected, most if not all coaching hires around the league could be finalized by the end of this week.
“Aaron Glenn and Ben Johnson are both gonna get jobs in this hiring cycle,” said ESPN’s Adam Schefter on The Pat McAfee Show.
The Jaguars have been rumored to be most interested in Johnson and Liam Coen, whose Buccaneers were also knocked from the postseason by the Commanders.
John Shipley of Jaguars on SI wrote this morning, “I entered the search thinking Johnson and Coen were the two best fits for the Jaguars and nothing I have seen or heard since then has made me change my tune.”
“I personally believe the Jaguars are gunning for an offensive-minded head coach, and these are the two I think they will covet the most. For Johnson, it seems like the Jaguars are not nearly as out of the race as people try to make it seem.”
