With 90 minutes remaining before kickoff, the Baltimore Ravens have announced their inactives for their tilt against the Buffalo Bills in Week 1. A few were expected due to injury, but a couple are sparking intrigue.
Inactives
The absence of Mitchell is a strange one, seeing as he practiced fully all week and was expected to contribute as a ball-carrier behind Derrick Henry and his speed is among the best on the team. He also is involved in kickoff returns.
With Mitchell out, the team will be utilizing Rasheen Ali as the No. 3 running back and one of two kick returners over Mitchell.
Another unique one is Lowery being inactive. The team opting to have five inside linebackers with Jay Higgins IV and roll with three safeties is curious with Defensive Coordinator Zach Orrβs affinity for three safeties in their scheme. Lowery offers versatility in the secondary and in special teams.
Lowery being inactive will leave the Ravens to operate with three total safeties and a handful of cornerbacks, including Marlon Humphrey, Jaire Alexander, Nate Wiggins, Chidobe Awuzie and T.J. Tampa Jr.
