The Baltimore Ravens struggling defense is losing yet another talented player.

The 3-1 Pittsburgh Steelers have a firm lead in the AFC North five weeks into the season and one of their division rivals seems to have just gotten worse.

According to NFL Network insider Mike Garafolo, the Baltimore Ravens are trading edge rusher Odafe Oweh to the Los Angeles Chargers.

Oweh, 26, was a first-round pick by the Ravens in the 2021 NFL Draft and has flashed why he was selected so high over the past four and a half years, racking up 148 tackles (103 solo), 23 sacks, seven forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries and one pass defensed.

However, he is playing on his fifth-year option this season and Baltimore didn’t seem to view him as part of its future plans.

The Ravens also have several other talented pass rushers to help fill Oweh’s void in veterans Kyle Van Noy, Tavius Robinson, David Ojabo and second-round rookie Mike Green.

Still, for a team that has already faced a multitude of injuries all across its roster, it’s risky to part ways with a talented player like Oweh.

Baltimore is getting safety Alohi Gilman and a fifth-round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft in return from the Chargers, but it’s certainly a loss, given what the team originally invested in Oweh.

A native of Hackensack, New Jersey, Oweh played college football at Penn State. There he racked up 63 tackles (37 solo), seven sacks, two forced fumbles and two passes defensed from 2018-20.

The Steelers aren’t schedule to face the Ravens until Week 14 and then not again until the regular season finale in Week 18. Pittsburgh has a comfy lead in the AFC North for now, but it’s not difficult to argue against the still being the case by the time these two teams play later this season.
