The Ravens are suspending wide receiver Diontae Johnson for one game for conduct detrimental to the team.
On Wednesday, the Baltimore Ravens and general manager Eric DeCosta announced they are suspending newly acquired wide receiver Diontae Johnson for their game against the New York Giants for conduct detrimental to the team.
FULL STATEMENT
We have made the difficult decision to suspend Diontae Johnson for our upcoming game against the New York Giants for conduct detrimental to the team.
Diontae’s suspension stems from refusing to enter our game against the Philadelphia Eagles.
We will have no further comments on this matter going forward.
Against the Eagles, it was noticeable that Johnson was not on the field. Midway through the game, they were down one of their starting receivers as Rashod Bateman was ruled out with a knee injury and replacing him was Nelson Agholor and Tylan Wallace.
After the Ravens’ win over the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 10, Johnson was visibly upset in the locker room. For 10-15 minutes, quarterback Lamar Jackson spoke with him to lift his spirits. Ravens Head Coach John Harbaugh also came over to check on him and speak with him.
If Johnson remains on the team after his one-game suspension, he can return to play against the Pittsburgh Steelers, Houston Texans and Cleveland Browns.
