Yesterday, the Ravens reunited with veteran wide receiver Chris Moore after he competed in a tryout with three others receivers. The team also hosted two offensive linemen for workouts on Friday, and according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, Hakeem Adeniji has also been awarded a contract coming out of the audition.
After Baltimore worked out Adeniji and former third-round pick Geron Christian, Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic predicted that one of the two could land a deal, even if just for a training camp or preseason role. The Ravens reportedly do not plan on their starting offensive tackles Ronnie Stanley and Roger Rosengarten getting much action in the lead up to the regular season, so making sure there is still a veteran with experience in the group is probably a good idea.
Adeniji is joining a group behind Stanley and Rosengarten that includes last year’s third- and fifth-round picks Emery Jones Jr. and Carson Vinson, 2025 undrafted signee Gerad Lichtenhan, and rookie UDFA Diego Pounds. Jones missed most of his rookie campaign with injury and is also getting some work on the interior of the offensive line after most his rookie snaps came at the team’s weak guard position. Vinson also got a bit of run as a rookie last year, but it mostly came on special teams.
Adeniji started off as a sixth-round pick out of Kansas for the Bengals 2020. Due to injuries to Jonah Williams and Bobby Hart, Adeniji ended up making five starts as a rookie, four at left tackle and one at right. The following year, after coming back from an offseason torn pec, Cincinnati tasked Adeniji with taking over the starting job at right guard after benching rookie second-rounder Jackson Carman.
After serving as the Bengals’ swing tackle in 2022, he failed to make the 53-man roster in the final year of his rookie deal and signed to the Vikings’ practice squad for 2023, moving up to the active roster part-way through the season and appearing in four games. Adeniji signed with the Browns for the 2024 season but spent the entire year on injured reserve. The Cowboys signed him for 2025, and Adeniji served as the backup left tackle, appearing in 12 games and making a start at left guard.
Zrebiec could be correct in assuming that Adeniji will simply be a camp body to ensure Stanley and Rosengarten come out of the preseason fresh as can be. With the glaring lack of depth at tackle behind those two, though, it feels as if Adeniji has a decent chance to carve out a larger role off the bench, based on his experience.
